Rob Avruch

Rob Avruch is a narrative strategist and philanthropic leader with a decade of experience at the intersection of storytelling, movement-building, and systems change. Most recently, he served as a Senior Program Officer at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, where he led a narrative portfolio focused on housing justice in California—helping to shift public discourse, seed new coalitions, and build durable narrative infrastructure across the state.

Rob cut his teeth in electoral organizing and issue advocacy before pivoting into philanthropy, where he’s become a trusted thought partner to funders, movement leaders, and creatives looking to align narrative work with long-term power building. He currently co-chairs the Investment and Philanthropy Peer Group at the Impact Guild and serves on the board of the Civic Space Foundation.

He lives in San Francisco with his husband Steven, their poodle Aura, and their extremely opinionated Burmese cat, Jaco.
