About Maryl


Maryl Widdows


Maryl is a technology leader and advisor who led the development of groundbreaking measurement products at Nielsen, moving the media industry forward on issues of diversity, inclusion and democracy. Maryl came to Nielsen through its acquisition of Rhiza, an analytics company she co-founded that helps media companies and advertisers understand consumers. Passionate about helping people make data-driven decisions, she pioneered many of the earliest community information systems, citizen science platforms and web-based geographic information systems during her time at MAYA Design/BCG Platinion. Maryl started her career in the economic development sector managing social venture funds for women and minority-owned businesses at the Opportunity Fund and RSF Social Finance. She holds an MBA in International Business from Thunderbird and a BA in Political Economy and Multicultural Studies from Fairhaven College. Maryl lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband and their two children. She spends much of her time trying to keep up with her teenagers, dogs and wild garden forest.
