Erin brings expertise in computational social science and political communication to her role as Lead Research Scientist at Harmony Labs. Before joining Harmony Labs, she was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania where her work focused on how political actors and citizens disseminate information and formulate narratives online from both the producer and consumer perspective. She is equally interested in the methodological and ethical challenges of using big data and machine learning in the social sciences, such as sampling biases, data dependencies, and explainability. She holds a PhD in Social and Engineering Systems from MIT, prior to which she worked as a Policy Analyst at Cloudflare with a focus on corporate social responsibility projects. Outside of research, Erin teaches an ever increasing repertoire of group fitness modalities and loves hiking, rock climbing, and sampling every coffee shop in Philadelphia.
